This month I am writing about my New Year. Yes, I know it’s August, but for me everything starts in August. My husband returns to his teaching job, my daughter’s programs start up again, and it seems that August is the best time for me to plan out my year. Preparing for the new year is all about planning, organizing, and setting goals.
August is when I sit down and plan out our year with my trusty Grumpy Cat wall calendar, my brand new planner, and my tiny carry in my bag planner. Yes, I use paper products to organize my life and yes I my have a planner addiction. Granted, I can’t predict everything that will happen this year, but it helps to have an idea of what may go on. Planning for activities, trips, and even future bills helps to make sure our budget and my family aren’t overloaded. I am a firm believer that calendars shouldn’t be overloaded with activities, but we all have things we do outside the home. It’s unavoidable. Planning and organizing out your year is the best way to feel prepared for the new year approaching.
Setting goals. That’s the tricky one. It’s easy to write down activities, but harder to take a good look at yourself and figure out what you could do better this year, what you need to do, and what you would like to do. Setting goals for a business, hobby, family, and yourself takes some time. It takes a couple of warm cups of coffee and some deep thinking. What are areas you could improve in and what are things you would love to do?
This month I am taking the time to think about my goals for my blog, my essential oils journey, my job, and my family. Do I believe in New Years Resolutions? Yes and no. I think it’s important to think about your goals in life and to actively pursue those goals. I just don’t like the hype that comes in January with everyone talking about losing weight, fixing their finances, etc. This is a personal journey and not one you should take lightly.
